Mindfulness Meditation

A donation based meditation class/group

By Donation
South Main Street

Service Description

In this weekly mindfulness meditation class, we’ll practice mindfulness together through direct experience, informal talks, and conversation. Each week, we’ll investigate an aspect of mindfulness and discuss its connection to our daily lives. We'll explore how to become more grounded in our bodies, emotions, and thoughts, and how to cultivate more kindness for ourselves and others. Mindfulness meditation has been shown to help reduce depression and anxiety, manage chronic pain, and strengthen emotional regulation. All levels of experience are welcome, from total newcomers and seasoned practitioners. We hope to create a community that supports and enriches everyone's mindfulness practice. This class is by donation (cash or check), or if you have an unlimited class pass. It is still recommended to pre-register, so we have an idea of who will be there. Catherine Epstein is a certified educator with 15 years of teaching experience, including nearly a decade in the classroom. After experiencing the benefits of meditation in her own life, she is currently earning her teaching certification from the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program based out of the Greater Good Science Center at the University of California, Berkeley. Catherine is also an educator at Boxerwood Nature Center and a Writing Consultant at Washington & Lee. Originally from Massachusetts, Catherine moved to Virginia in 2021. She loves to read, eat pasta, and hike with her husband and dog.
